This artwork, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, is one of many smile producing sculptures at Frivolous Tendencies.  This Ashland, Oregon, shop gives recycled corrugated barn roofs a whole new life as art.  These whimsical works are the result of some very hard work.  But all that is hidden. The tag line at Marcus Berkner's shop say he's "de-iconifying the organic and structural".  I don't know exactly what that means, but I think it's what drew me into this shop of wonderfully original, thoughtful, and thought-provoking jewelry.  Marcus Berkner creates beautiful jewelry that's about more than beautiful jewelry.  Maybe that's what "de-iconifying the organic and structural" means.  Maybe not.  It doesn't matter because, either way, his jewelry is special.  Visit Marcus Berkner Jewelry and see for yourself.  This garnet adorned silver door pendant is $160.

folk art pumpkin doll named pembrook

This is Pembrook, the sweetest looking pumpkin doll I've ever seen.  She's a sculpture comprised of drawing, painting and otherwise skillfully impressing her image onto fabric before attaching her parts to a wooden stand.  Her clothes are hand sewn, and the whole assemblage comes together into a very nice piece of artwork standing 8-1/2 inches tall.  She was created by Dylan and Jo, the husband and wife team at Cart Before the Horse, where you'll find lots of other nice folk art dolls for holiday or everyday decor.  Pembrookis $110.00.

handmade vintage pillows that are new

This is just one of many unusual vintage style pillows to be found in the delightful shop Sassy Cat Creations.  Many of them are constructed of actual vintage fabrics, including vintage chenelle and vintage grainsack.  Check out the full collection of handmade pillows in this very cool shop.  This one is made of new french toile cotton ticking.  The red accents are  french linen toile.  I love it to death.  $30.00.

The Mobilosity guy, in Bend, Oregon, is an artist who likes making interesting things, including stunning and affordable mobiles. These delicate dancing works of movable art are a wonderful way to dress up or invigorate space in your home or office. They come in a wide variety of styles, colors, and sizes. And they're great happy making gift ideas.

beer, shea butter, hemp and other soaps from anderson soap company

Dennis, at Anderson Soap Company in Portland, Oregon, makes a lot of very nice looking soaps.  They come in different forms with a range of ingredients:  Bar, liquid, whipped, olive oil, shea butter, hemp, glycerine and more.  But what got my attention was his soaps made from beer.  I saw Newcastle, and Guiness and two or three others in his shop, but they're not categorized separately.  You find them by scrolling through all shop items.
