copper cuff with vintage san francisco map

This handmade copper cuff has a 1909 map of San Francisco (29th to Buena Vista and Douglas to Noe) etched on its surface.  How cool is that?  Its maker, Lisa York, also has Chicago, New York, and Boston cuffs in her shop, Fugudesigns. The cuffs are two inches wide, 2-1/2 inches across, and they fit a medium size wrist.  Besides working in copper, Lisa also has a way with silver, resin, and stones.  And cuffs are not the only thing Lisa York has up her very artistic sleeve.  Fugudesigns is also home to a good selection of unusual, artistic, and fetching handmade earrings, some copper and some resin and silver. this bead necklace is music to your eyes

I was drawn into this shop by large, colorful, strikingly beautiful cloth bags. keep dip chilled and pretty

This two-piece dip chiller bowl is so cool! (No pun intended). You put cold water and/or ice in the large base container. Then sit the bowl of dip or potato salad or whatever on top. I like the added height also because it creates an eye-pleasing additional level on the serving table. This handmade stoneware set is from rzdesign in Evanston, Illinois, and comes in a couple of other colors/glazes. $22.50.

Nix Creations designer Matthew Nix, in Collinsville, Illinois, started making jewelry by accident.  One thing led to another and he now finds himself making absolutely gorgeous fused glass and wrapped wire pendants. 

 

tie on a new pair every day with mohops

Please explain to me how a shoe can be "environmentally friendly, comfortable, . . . allow nearly infinite design options with just one pair of wooden soles", and still be so cool you can wear them to walk on fire.  They're called Mohops and Annie Mohaupt makes them by hand in her Chicago studio.  She is currently swamped and orders are backed up for several weeks.  But you can get the jump on next summer (or New Year's Eve in New Zealand).

stylish sensible shoes

Sara MacIntosh is a modern day cobbler who gives new meaning to the term "sensible shoes".  Her shoes are classically stylish and most are suitable for either men or women.  Sara constructs her shoes to be precise fits for both of your feet.  I've never had shoes that fit both of my feet perfectly, but I do remember being able to get a better fit.
