Brezomayo's heartwarming Linen Bird Pillow is what initially drew me into her Brezomayo Designs Etsy shop. This pillow is as authentically what handmades are about as it gets. 100% natural linen + vintage tea linens + vintage buttons + basket weave trim + embroidery, all craftfully combined in a fetchingly sweet pillow you just want to hug.
Then, when I entered the shop, I found her beautiful handmade tissue cozies. I've decided the tissue cozy is today's handkerchief. Here's why: Once upon a time, when I was young, nice handkerchiefs made great gifts. In those days, everyone carried them, but most were pretty basic. A nice linen handkerchief with lace trim ran about $5.00, and when presented in a nicely wrapped box made an affordable extravagant gift. Well Kleenex messed that up, but Brezomayo's fully lined and artfully decorated tissue cozy puts the classy sniffle back on the map. And, the cozy is also beautifully practical.
Anyone who's rummaged through a purse or pocket for a package of tissues knows those wimpy plastic containers do not hold up when thrown in with pens and pencils and change and all the other stuff we carry around. But the tissue cozy keeps them clean, intact, and presentable. And at $5.00 - $6.50 each, they make affordable extravagant gifts.
I've strayed. Back to that sweet little Linen Bird Pillow. It measures 15"x10", costs $42.00, and is just one example of several handmade pillows to be found in Brezomayo's shop:
